The most beautiful villages in the province of Milan

Allowing yourself a weekend different from the usual, in search of the most characteristic places of the area, can be more pleasant than expected.

Our peninsula is full of scenic spots and historic villages, capable of transporting us to a past atmosphere from the very first glance.

Milan, one of the most recognized and famous capitals of Italy, offers a long list of possible attractions.

Its province is exactly as beautiful as the city center, especially if you know the most strategic points and the most characteristic destinations from the outset.

The villages of the province of Milan are known for their unique landscapes, for the bright green of the Ticino Valley which is the backdrop to most of the municipalities. A visit to these places could give you relaxation and tranquility, allowing you to take your mind away from every day worries.

Morimondo

The first village we are talking about is Morimondo, which is located just thirty kilometers from Milan. It is easily accessible either by car or by train, depending on the possibilities.

For the more sporty, a valid alternative is a bicycle, following the cycle path that starts from the Darsena and reaches the Naviglio di Bereguardo.

Hiking lovers will find here a fertile area to cultivate their passions. Morimondo is full of guided hiking trails, which usually start from the historic center and cross a large part of the Ticino Valley.

There are also several paths dedicated to trekking, which allow you to reach some of the highest peaks in Ticino.

Likewise, the guests of Morimondo can allow a few hours to taste wines and typical dishes, by booking their visit to the main farmhouses and agritourism of the place.

There are also important architectural attractions, such as the famous Morimondo Abbey belonging to the early Middle Ages. The French monks arriving from Morimond (hence the name of the village), chose to build their monastery here, fascinated by the beauty of the surrounding nature.

Cassinetta of Lugagnano

The village of Cassinetta di Lugagnano was once divided into two towns, precisely Cassinetta and Lugagnano.

Time has then seen them united by a common destiny and the same architectural style. The Middle Ages are visible through the narrow stone streets and brick buildings, which appear behind every alley of the village.

The entire historic center and the immediate surrounding area can be visited with the help of a bike, which accompanies tourists on their hiking tour. Organized tours and guided tours can be booked upon arrival so that you can discover the magical aspect of the town in good company.

It is also possible to continue following the path that connects Cassinetta with Castelletto di Cuggiono, the adjacent village. The path is surrounded by greenery and deserves to be crossed precisely for the beauty of nature.

Trezzo d’Adda

The last village in the province of Milan that you absolutely cannot miss is Trezzo d’Adda, a magical place with an extremely intricate past.

The Naviglio Martesana cycle path takes hikers from Milan to Trezzo d’Adda, taking just over an hour. Along the path, you have the opportunity to observe the lush green of the landscape, at times interrupted by the presence of noble villas of the eighteenth century.

Once you enter the village you can visit the historic center, with its narrow streets covered with solid layers of stone. A short distance away is the Visconti Castle, which directly overlooks the waters of the Adda.

Trezzo is connected through a walkway to Crespi D’Adda, a small village whose image is identical to that of the 1800s. You will thus be immersed in the past, with the possibility of rediscovering the beauty of past customs.

If, on the other hand, you are a nature lover and want to immerse yourself in the green, we recommend a visit to the WWF oasis Foppe di Trezzo, to enjoy a pleasant trip in the open air.
