The city of Comacchio is known as the little Venice because it is also a splendid lagoon city. It is located near Ferrara, immersed in the park of the Po Delta, this city where urban spaces mix with the nearby sea and many historical testimonies. Here in Comacchio, you will find seven beaches where you can take a break by the sea or have a night out. Life in the town of Comacchio is exciting and fun, lively and serene at the same time, especially in summer. In winter, however, you can enjoy the intense colors that the season offers and the sky that is reflected in the waters that cross the city.
The Trepponti bridge is the symbol of the city of Comacchio and also one of the most photographed. It is also known as Ponte Pallotta and was built over the canal that was used for boats that went to the Adriatic Sea. The bridges over the canals are the most evocative places in the city, from the Ponte Degli Sbirri you can enjoy a good view of the Antico Ospedale Degli Infermi and the nineteenth-century Bellini palace, as well as the famous Trepponti.
One of the most important places in Comacchio and unmissable is the Ancient Delta Museum, which is located inside the eighteenth-century building of the Hospital of the Sick. Inside the museum, you will find a rich heritage of archaeological assets that come from the surrounding areas that date back to prehistoric times. Inside it is also possible to admire the remains of the cargo of the Roman ship Comacchio.
Comacchio's tradition is linked to seafaring and the Antica Pescheria is a building that still bears witness to this activity, as it houses the daily market of freshly caught fish. Not to be missed are the Cathedral of San Cassiano, built in 1740, which you can enter free of charge, the Loggia del Grano, and the Clock Tower.
But the greatest charm of Comacchio appears in the evening when the canals are colored with the shades of the sunset and the locals turn on the lights, creating a scenario of great charm. Finally, after having enjoyed an evening in the clubs along the canals of Comacchio, it is good not to leave before taking a trip to the Comacchio Valleys, on foot, by bicycle, or even by boat, it is a suggestive naturalistic itinerary. and unforgettable.
